Cohen, Mordechai

Son of Shmuel and Sarah. He was born on November 18, 1936, in the city of Udovshsti, Romania. In 1948 he immigrated to Israel in a group of immigrant children – to Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan. He studied throughout the years in the joint school in Gush Zevulun. He was devoted and loyal to every job he took, intelligent and talented in his studies. He was gentle and pleasant. He was very Simcha when his parents came to Israel and even though they were sick and in need of his help, he decided to stay in the farm anyway, because he very much called this life. A month before he left for the army (August 1954) he was accepted as a kibbutz member. He fell on the 20th of Kislev 5702 (20.12.1954) while fulfilling his duties and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Words in memory and image were uploaded in “Avim”, a school bag issued in 1960 by the local council of Ramat Hasharon.
