Cohen, Michael


Son of Rachel and Zalman. Born in 1920 in Kfar Tavor, the third generation of a well-established family in Israel, Michael studied at Kfar Tavor and later in Mikvah Israel and was a member of Maccabi Hatzair and participated in the second Maccabiah. He was active in its ranks and took part in a course for commanders of the first Haganah commanders’ course held in Yavne’el, where he worked in agriculture in his village. In 1939 he joined the Nutras and was the commander of a division in Yavne’el under the command of Yigal Allon. On 8 Tishrei, October 7, 1943, he died of an illness at Hadassah Hospital, in Jerusalem and was laid to rest at the cemetery in Kfar Tavor. He left a wife, parents, three brothers and three sisters.
