Cohen, Liron
Son of-Varda and Yitzhak, was born on 28.3.1963 in Ramat Aviv in Tel Aviv. Liron began studying at the Nitzanim school in Ramat Aviv, and when his parents left for Argentina, he continued to study at the Israeli school in Buenos Aires. Upon her return to Israel, the family settled in Ra’anana and Liron completed the B State School. He continued to study at the Ostrovsky School in Ra’anana, and during this period was a member of the Scouts movement. Liron, who was only 15 years old, joined the ranks of the Civil Guard and continued to serve in the IDF until his induction into the IDF Liron loved music, played guitar and played a drum set, and was very fond of reading. Liron was drafted into the army in early February 1981 and volunteered to serve in an elite infantry unit. During his service he was devoted to his job, proved brave and responsible under fire, a good friend and a good fighter. When the Peace for Galilee War broke out, Liron immigrated with his unit to Lebanon, and although he did not have a rank, he served as an operations sergeant in the commanding unit of the unit’s deputy commander. When the lieutenant was killed, Liron continued to fight. On the 11th of Kislev 5762 (11 June 1982), Liron fell in battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War, and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind his parents and two sisters.
