Cohen, Jacob
Jacob, son of Aliza (Nizha) and Shlomo Cohen, was born in 1931 in Aleppo, Syria. In 1933 the family immigrated to Israel as illegal immigrants and settled in Jerusalem. In 1947, he volunteered for the Hagana and took part in a number of activities, including the bombing of a bridge near Gedera and the battles near Gan Yavne. When the enemy bombed Negba from the air, on 12 Iyar (21.5.1948), Jacob was seriously wounded and died a few hours later. He was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Negba.
