Cohen, Israel

Israel, son of Deborah and Yehuda, was born on September 29, 1948, in Haifa. He attended elementary school in Kiryat Tivon and continued to study at the Greenberg High School. The first memory of people who knew Israel in his life is the image of a lively, lively and lively boy who is constantly moving fast, as if he wants to do many things, and his time is too short to carry them out. From an early age, he was busy with various occupations and was especially active in the social field. One of his teachers, who accompanied him throughout his high school career and who was connected with the soul of his student, related how Israel stood out in class and at school socially: “He was always at the center of things, as if he had received a permanent appointment to take responsibility for the class. In the Yom Kippur War, he participated in the difficult battles in Sinai, in the capacity of deputy commander of a tank company, and on the 12th of Tishrei, 5740 (October 8, 1973), he was killed in an attack on the enemy’s forces in Pirdan, where he was killed and brought to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Tivon, where he left behind a wife, daughter and son, parents and sister.
