Cohen, Isaac


Son of Rivka and Jacob-Leibush, was born on 27.7.1927 in Tiberias. His mother had died in his youth. Yitzhak completed eight classes at the Talmud Torah in Tiberias and moved to Netanya to work in diamonds, but his soul stuck to the Torah. To this end he moved to Jerusalem and studied at Yeshivas “Hebron”, “Beit Aharon” and “Novogrodok” and tended to “Kabala”. He taught refugee students and was active in “Sabbath Watch”. From the first day of the war following the UN General Assembly’s decision to partition the country into two states, he was one of the defenders of the Yemin Moshe neighborhood, and Yitzhak refused to be released and enlisted in a religious company (Company A) Was injured on the Kastel and protected by the children’s farm in Motza Ilit, and when he was wounded, he returned to the unit on July 19, 1948. On the day of the second truce, In Jerusalem when he sensed an extremist position and died on September 10, 1950, was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
