Cohen, Eliyahu
Son of Abraham HaKohen and Masouda. He was born in 1952 in Casablanca, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1954. He studied at the Rambam Elementary School in Kiryat Shmona and after completing his studies, decided to study and register at the Kiryat Shmona Youth Center. At the Youth Center he took part in the Gadna activities and found great interest in leisure activities, and he studied carpentry for two years and then began working as a professional carpenter in Kibbutz Dan in the north of Israel, Not far from his home in Kiryat Shmona, where he was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1970. He had a strong desire to volunteer for paratroopers and be a parachutist, but he was assigned to the Armored Corps. A few months after his enlistment, he was wounded while carrying out his duties, and on the day of the 29th of Shvat 5731 (April 24, 1971), three days after his injury, he died of his wounds.
