Cohen, David

Son of Elazar HaKohen and Tova. He was born in 1951 in Isfahan, Israel, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1953. He attended elementary school and the Matmid religious high school, both in Kiryat Shmona, and in early 1969 he was drafted into the IDF. During his short days of service (he did not have time to serve for about half a year), David became fond of his commanders and was admired by his comrades-in-arms, for he was a good friend and devoted soldier. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shmona, and one of his teachers and educators said in his eulogy: “For three years I have educated him in the difficult years of his development. Every boy, the years of disintegration and the fumbling and the years of rebellion. Not a typical boy was David, not an evasive. All stood firm and firm – from Kiryat Shmona to the banks of the canal. Of all his friends he stood out as a boy who could be trusted; We never feared or feared, because we knew that if David was handling everything, he was safe. David believed wholeheartedly in the Creator and in His many mercies and translated his faith into deeds. He was quick to observe the mitzvot and kept his mark as serious – – – he remained faithful to his quarry in a stubborn and convoluted generation. “
