Cohen, Daniel


Son of David and Suzanne, was born on June 1, 1957, in Morocco. He completed six years of study at the Talmud Torah in Casablanca. After immigrating to Israel with his family in 1969, he studied at the son of-Zvi School in Akko, where he lived. Afterward he moved to the Neurim College near Netanya and studied mechanical engineering for two years. Daniel was a sports fan and played soccer and basketball with his friends. He was a loyal friend, never a bad man and always willing to help others. Daniel was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1975. After completing basic training, he completed his training course and was sent to the Golan Heights as a mechanic-engineering equipment operator, and soon became known to his comrades and commanders. On the Golan Heights, and most of the time his unit was busy building fortifications along the border, on the 10th of Kislev 5736 (November 10, 1975) Daniel fell in the line of duty. Was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in Nahariya. He left a mother, two brothers and two sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Daniel was a good soldier and a loyal friend, helped his friends and fulfilled his duties with dedication and loyalty.
