Cohen, Benny

Son of Moshe HaCohen and Fruma. He was born on the 5th of Adar I 5708 (March 6, 1948) in the city of Tekoz, Romania. He graduated from elementary school in his hometown. Even as a child, he began to work to help support the family. He immigrated to Israel in 1963, with his family. Benny only studied for two months at the ulpan, and could not continue his studies because of his sensitivity to his parents’ difficult economic situation. He was naturally sensitive and introverted, yet willing to help others. He respected each person, especially his parents. He was a diligent boy, and was not deterred by hard and arduous work to help his family work. In his spare time he liked to work in various sports, such as table tennis and soccer. He had a highly developed sense of humor and no one was bored with his company and therefore loved everything, both in his place of residence and in his workplace. He was drafted into the IDF at the end of November 1967. He was a good and disciplined soldier, and was loved by his comrades in arms: On April 11, 1970, he fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
