Cohen, Avraham-Albert


Avraham, born in 1953 in Morocco, immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. After a few years the family moved to Nahariya, where he studied at the Ma’ayanot Elementary School in Beit-Shean. Avraham was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training he completed a tank commander course and was successfully sent to serve in the 7th Armored Brigade and participated in the brigade’s training and extensive operational activities. He was known to be an excellent tank commander. In the battle for the conquest of Tel Shams on October 22, 1973, Avraham’s tank was hit in the shelling and he was killed. He was survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
