Cohen, Avraham Abba

Son of Pessi and David, was born in 1929. In the turbulent days of the War of Independence, he decided to immigrate to Israel with his cousin Avraham Lugatch to come to the aid of the young state and join the IDF. The young men arrived in Israel during Passover 5708, and a few days later they joined the Palmach. Avraham participated in a battle between Malkia that took place on 14-15/5/1948 as part of the first regiment of Company A and fell in this battle together with his cousin. From the day they fell until the 16th of Cheshvan 5770 (November 3, 2009), Avraham and his cousin were presumed dead, whose burial place was unknown. In the wake of an investigation into the IDF’s missing soldiers, it was found that they were buried together with some of their friends in a mass grave at Kibbutz Maoz Haim.
