Cohen, Amnon


Amnon, son of Esther and Elijah of blessed memory, was born on September 6, 1947 in Jerusalem, the youngest of his six brothers and five sisters, and Amnon was born in a period of siege and deprivation in Jerusalem. WIZO. He was four years old when he was returned to his family home, and he was a sick child who had barely walked. But he overcame his weakness, went on time to school and excelled in his studies. Although he was an old son of his parents and a favorite of his brothers and sisters, he was not spoiled and did his best to ease the burden of earning a living on the parents. After graduating from the Moriah school, Amnon studied at the Himmelfarb school. He was a member of the Beitar movement and was a member of the Beitar soccer team. Even when he was a high school student, Amnon dealt with all sorts of jobs in order to finance his studies. He helped in the house and nursed his parents with sickness. Amnon was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1965. He was assigned to the Nahal Brigade and completed basic training in the IDF. After that, he took a platoon commander training course and was trained as a noncommissioned mortar officer. In the Six Day War he served in Sinai, and his brother Ze’ev fell in this war. Amnon did not argue or complain that he had learned only from the paper. Aware of the situation at the time, he realized that it was inevitable. A few months before his service in the IDF ended, Amnon was released because he was accepted to study at the University of Jerusalem. He was a model soldier. “Amnon’s term of service was postponed for three years until he completed his bachelor’s degree, and most of his brothers and sisters were treated in families, and workers in remote places, and Amnon was the only one who took care of his sick father. Besides, he knew how to approach the human patient, to reassure him, to take care of him and to take care of him, and he did so with great loyalty and love, and many in Jerusalem knew and liked him, for he was modest, kind and kind. In his father, and after three years he was awarded a BA in Economics, and was about to continue his degree studies In addition to being active in his movement, he was also very interested in politics, but Amnon loved most of all Jerusalem and was attached to it with all his soul, and at the end of the three years he was returned to continue his service in the IDF and was assigned to a nearby unit so that he could continue to care for his sick parents. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Amnon was in reserve duty in the Suez Canal area. On October 20, 1973, Amnon was declared a missing person. He fought in the stronghold of Oracle and his attempt to connect with his friends in a nearby stronghold, was hit. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents, four brothers and five sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Amnon, one of our ranks, fought valiantly in the” Oracle “stronghold on the Suez Canal, and during his service with us we found the qualities of a man and a warrior. Stay with us always. ” The family donated a Torah scroll, a corner of his high school and a library at Maoz Beitar in Jerusalem, and Amnon’s students, who enlisted in the Nahal Brigade, called their nucleus after him “Amnon’s Core.”
