Ben Rachel and Amos. Born on the 28th of Iyar 5738 (28.5.1978) in Tel Aviv. Brother to Adi, Matan and Maor. Growing up in the Dan neighborhood. He studied in Tel Aviv, at the Yesgav elementary school and at the “Ironi Yud” high school, in a regular track, and at the age of five he did not have He would sit and play his right hand against his left hand, and when he was asked, “Roi, how are you not cheating?” He would raise an eyebrow and say, “It’s forbidden – and not smart either.” Roi has always known what he wanted and would have achieved what he wanted quietly and with a smile, and his parents remained amazed at his ability to influence them. The rules were “bent” to him without noise, without violence, without rebellion, but with a smile, logic, and deep conviction in the justice of his path. His ability to understand, to advise, to listen, to encourage and to remember the right proportions of things led others to share the deepest secrets with him, and he was able to maneuver among the many members who surrounded him and dedicate Time for each and every one of them. It was always quality time, time of investment and total devotion. He chose his friends according to his criteria, and not according to the norm. He sought the depth, the wisdom, and preferred the interior to the exterior. Roy is endowed with peace of mind and rare inner security. He often preferred to stay at home, to read, to engage in things he loved, and he saw this rather than going out with friends. This was how he behaved with inner perfection, and with complete peace. He was modest and contented himself with little; he got along with what was, and did not need material things. Money parents had to push into his hands by force. Roi’s main hobbies were basketball and diving. He played the role of coordinator in the basketball teams of “Hapoel Tel Aviv” and “Hapoel Givatayim”. He also loved tennis, and was good at hitting both hands despite being left-handed. Roi still loved to read and much – mainly fiction and philosophy books. From the age of eight, he knew that he wanted to be a doctor – a brain surgeon, and until the end of 12th grade he took part in all the “science-seeking youth” courses that dealt with medicine and philosophy, and he had an English sense of humor and humor. He participated in the “Hemeda” project for outstanding mathematicians and physicists in cooperation with the Weizmann Institute and the Tel Aviv Municipality, and was a member of the “Sea Scouts” movement, which came easily to him and never had to make an effort to excel. Despite all his work, he also found time to work, and when he reached the twelfth grade, Roi decided that he no longer wanted to go School and that he prefers to study alone. He found it difficult to get up in the morning, and even obtained a medical certificate that proved that his biological clock worked differently. Roi was an avid tour enthusiast. As a child, on family walks or in marches he took part in, he always ran ahead, to be first. During vacations he went to summer camps and when he grew up he organized jeep trips for friends. In his last years Roi discovered the dive. There, in the depths of the sea, he discovered an entire world that intrigued him and drew him to him in silence, in peace and in his own ability to control his life. He planned to travel after the discharge from the army and before his studies to New Zealand and Australia, to dive with sharks. Roy’s relationship with his parents was characterized by a battleOpenness. He showed the heat and love he felt for them with hugs and kisses, and always helped with the housework. Nevertheless, he would express his opinion even if it was different from his parents’, but he always did it gracefully and pleasantly. Above all, the parents enjoyed Roy’s ability to share his feelings. At night they would sit together in the kitchen, talking and sharing experiences by wiping hummus in the pita. Roee enlisted in the IDF at the end of July 1996. He served in combat engineering and advanced quickly on the training course, and as an engineering officer, he performed his duties professionally and with remarkable motivation during the year he served in Aguz. Roi explained that the work must be done in the best possible way, and that Roi, who was a pacifist in his opinions, a Meretz youth, believed in the rightness of the way and human dignity, Roi was very fond of his colleagues in the unit, who noted his professionalism, his desire to learn On June 9, 1999, Lieutenant Roi Keller was killed in a battle in Lebanon, and a force from the Egoz unit embarked on an activity called “The Last Mohican Operation” In the northern region of the security zone in southern Lebanon, and was hit by a terrorist squad in the northern part of the country, where he was wounded by the wounds of the first fire. Was in his fall. He was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. Survived by parents, sister and two brothers. Roi was immortalized in a monument erected by the artists Hilik Tzippori and Baruch Kadmon, a monument made of iron, with the name Ro’i in prominent letters, with two thin iron walls supporting the ball – a symbol of perfection – made of stainless steel. In the memory of Roi, who loved to travel so much, trips to various places around the country take place every year around the time of his fall.
