Chono (Cohen), Meir

Son of Ephraim and Rana. He was born on April 5, 1926 in Iraq. Immigrated to Israel in 1951. He worked mainly in agriculture and carpentry. He belonged to Hapoel Hamizrachi. He was drafted into the IDF in April 1952. He fell during his duty on the 5th of Adar 5714 (February 8, 1954) and was brought to eternal rest in the civilian cemetery in Parvana (near Beit She’an). He left a pregnant wife and three children. On the 14th of Cheshvan 5729 (14.11.1968) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
