Cholei, Asher


Was born on 13.5.1929 in Constantinople, Turkey, where his Zionist parents grew up longing for Zion, and before graduating from elementary school he wanted to immigrate to Eretz Israel, but only in 1943 did he succeed. His parents agreed, and he came to Israel as part of Youth Aliya, where he spent many years of training at the youth company, Givat Hashlosha, and adapted to the conditions of the country and his work. On the 27th of Iyar 5708 (June 5, 1948), during the shelling, Asher was seriously injured in his lungs and died a few hours later. He was buried in Sodom. His memory was included in the memorial book “Beit Ha’Arava”. On the 19th of Shvat 5710 (6.2.1950) he was transferred to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
