Chochran, Yitzhak (Marco)


Born on the 5th of Sivan, 5/6/1927 in the city of Istanbul, Turkey, excelled in his studies, rebelled against the manifestations of anti-Semitism in this school. Yitzhak immigrated on July 23, 1943, and was a member of the training program at Givat Chaim and in Revivim in the Negev. He saw the kibbutz as an ideal form of life and advocated for it. In Givat Chaim Yitzhak enlisted in the Palmach and served for one year in Hulata, and later moved with his group to Beit Hashita. After completing his second year in the Palmach, he moved with his comrades to Kibbutz Mashavim Halutza, where he participated in the underground activities of the Hagana, including the bombing of the Benot Ya’aqov Bridge. Yitzhak was captured by the Egyptians, and Yitzhak and the rest of the members were buried under a building collapse on 4 Sivan 5708, (June 11, 1948), on the eve of the first truce. Yitzhak was buried in Halutza. On 3 Sivan, June 4, 1954, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
