Cherkowski, Dan (“Pega”)


Son of Oscar and Zdenka. He was born on January 2, 1946, in the city of Osik, Yugoslavia. At the end of 1948 – he was about three years old – his parents brought him to Israel. He attended the “Beit Or” elementary school in Moshav Kidron and completed his studies there. He then attended high school. He also studied an electronics course and finally visited the Air Force Technical School until he completed his studies. In October 1965 he was drafted into the IDF and on 9 Adar 5727 (March 21, 1967) he died and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Moshav Kidron. On the anniversary of his passing, the moshav commemorated his name by establishing a library called the Dan Library; The library contains a reference-reading room and a collection of books for exchange.
