Cherick, Herman
During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the Operations Company of the Engineering Corps. He served in Egypt and was later sent to Greece with his unit, in order to stop the German invasion of this country. The British Expeditionary Force to Greece surrendered to the Germans in late April 1941 and most of its soldiers were captured, including Herman. He tried to escape from the POW camp in Greece, and on the 24th of Tevet 5703 (January 1, 1943) he was killed. His burial place is unknown. He left a wife in Tel Aviv.
