Chen-Zion (Henzinsky), Yehuda-Aryeh Ben-Zion


Son of Ita and Ze’ev was born on the 6th of Hesvon, October 24, 1925 in Tel Aviv to a family of Torah scholars, and grandson of the Admor of Radomsk, author of Tiferet Shlomo, and of Rabbi Chaim Auerbach, author of Divrei Mishpat. He studied at the Ohel Ya’akov Talmud Torah and later at the Haronson Yeshiva in Tel Aviv. In 1946, he completed a course for squad commanders and later served as a platoon commander and a member of the Tel Aviv Company, and participated in battles in the Tel Aviv-Abu Kabir, Manshiyya, Hatikva, etc. Yehuda-Aryeh participated in the fierce battles for the Russian monastery, the “saddle”, and in Kfar Etzion. He excelled in his steadfastness and devotion to his subordinates. Yehuda-Aryeh took care of his men in battle and did not leave them in the field without encouragement and supervision. Yehuda-Aryeh came from the “Saddle” power station to Kfar Etzion to bring a stretcher for the transport of a wounded person, and fought alongside the commander and served in various command posts. On the 4th of Iyar, 13.5.194, the day that Kfar Etzion fell, Yehuda-Aryeh fell when the enemy threw grenades. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was transfered the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
