Chen (Hassan), Roni


Son of Miriam and Daniel, was born on May 9, 1961 in Beer-Yaakov. Ronnie was eight years old in a family with children. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Bat Yam, where he studied at the “Tehiya” elementary school, and a year in the “vocational training” high school. Ronny was an energetic boy, looking for activities for the benefit of others and volunteering for the Civil Guard. He loved nature and the sea, and a lot of walks along the beaches. Roni joined the IDF in June 1979. Because of his health, he was assigned to serve as a clerk in the General Staff in Tel Aviv. He took a clerk’s course, and in May 1980 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and on February 2, 1982, Ronny received leave and left the General Staff camp to Shaul Hamelech Street to take the bus to his home. A civilian car passing by hit him and he was critically wounded. Roni fought for two weeks, and on the 24th of Shvat 5742 (February 16, 1982) died. He was 21 years old when he died. Roni was buried in the military cemetery in Holon. He left behind his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
