In the following years he engaged in public activity and helped needy children in the community. But above all Oren was an athlete in his soul. During his high school years, he played basketball as part of the youth department of the Maccabi Tel Aviv team. In preparation for the matriculation exams he was forced to stop his training, but he never gave up basketball games and continued to play wherever he was. In addition, he also played football, was attracted to water sports and loved to surf. In general, Oren loved life and knew how to exploit it well. He read many books, especially thrillers, watching movies (he preferred warlike films), was interested in fighter planes and specialized in navigation. His friends say: “With all the difficulty Oren always knew how to put the right sentence in the right place and time and helped us all move on.” When his soldiers finished tax”We spent nine months together, during which we underwent a beret journey, two training lines and countless experiences that will never be forgotten and forgotten in my memory.” During those months I learned to know each and every one of you personally. I believe that each and every one of you, wherever he goes, will make the most of it by using all the tools that we have bought you during the course, and he will be proud to be part of that group of quality fighters … I am proud to be the symbol of department 3 and wish you success In any way you choose, know that I am here for you as a friend, whenever you wish. ” Oren fought in various sectors and served in Lebanon with a single medal of excellence. Oren was recognized by everyone as the best fighter of the Ramat Yosef neighborhood in Bat Yam. When Operation Defensive Shield began he did not wait for the call and he ironed uniforms, prepared the equipment, and waited in tense anticipation. Every day he telephoned his commanders and asked why he had not been jumped yet, and when they told him that in the meantime there was no need, he was disappointed. Every day he conducted a phone call and checked with his friends whether they knew when they would be called to join the fighting until he received Order 8 in mid-May 2002. Oren enlisted in reserve duty in the Shu’ali Marom formation, when the plan was to leave for Gaza. His comrades in the reserve company recall: “… Always first, always give, contribute without questions … First on the staff list to go to Rafah, the first to stand in a painted and ready square … We were so first that even the resistors who had to open the emergency room for us They were not organized yet and we went to sleep on the ambulance benches in the parking lot … “In the end, the planned operation in Gaza was canceled and the battalion was transferred to the Tulkarm sector. You – without complaints – first go out of the tent, urging the others to join rather than complain. First to volunteer for any activity, ambush or peacock. First at the APC door and at the end of the first time to unload, the first to be hit. ” On the morning of Friday, May 24, 2002, paratroopers and armored forces entered Tulkarm in order to thwart terrorist attacks and arrest terror suspects. The activity took place in the center of the city, in the area between the Muqata and the Tulkarm refugee camp, when the force wanted to arrest a number of wanted persons hiding in one of the buildings. On the first anniversary of his downfall, his family commander wrote: “Twelve months have passed since that bitter and reckless Friday, a year has passed … a year in which the memories never ceased to strike and the questions that pecked – where was each of us when this happened? The tragedy, when exactly did we realize it was true, continued to resonate, to bother, to burn, to hurt … But most of all it was a longing for a young man who was in many ways the model of everything we wanted to see in our comrades: handsome, cheerful, Hardworking and dangerous as it may be … Just like Oren, who was always lively and enthusiastic, who always took on difficult assignments, and who always volunteered for Oren was a young soldier when he first arrived in the unit, and yet he immediately integrated into it as if he had been a part of it for a long time … In our memoirs, Oren seems to have been there forever … In a few weeks we will be back in the territories. We will take with us to the line where we recall the memories of that terrible Friday, and of course the memories of Oren, memories that will accompany us all for many years to come … ” In the memorial ceremonies that took place in the years following the fall of Oren, his mother spoke: “… How can we find the words in which a person will write in the past about his child, who became the boy who became the courageous, determined warrior who fought for values he believed … In such a sudden, so surprising, so shocking way – cut off the thread of my son’s life, a cute young man, his eyes sparkling with youthful passion, his heart forever and wide – bringing with him love, touching all those around him He was taken away from us and left an empty space, a great abyss, and the heart refuses to believe … Perhaps there is a small comfort that fell in We know that there is no cure for grief except for the constant effort to continue life with force and a tearful eye, and to find in them, nevertheless, glimpses of light, love and joy. I know that by doing so I will give glory and glory to the way you believedHeroism and self-sacrifice. “Ofer, a member of the regular service, wrote:” … I was privileged to be a friend and brother of a rare person, the smile permanently embedded on his face, giving and love are supreme values. The desire to achieve more and more, even when it seemed impossible, did not create any aversion to him. He always wanted success and failure was out of the question. … forever my brother! I love you always! “Sigalit, the older sister, told of Oren:” Our little prince was a tall man. Adam is loved no matter what age range. He can do a school for everyone, how to live and enjoy life. It’s good to know and it makes it easier for him to live life like he wanted to live and enjoy it. “Oren’s comrades wrote:” You were so young in the company, but how powerful, how charismatic, so overwhelming, how quiet and secure you gave us. A model as an individual and as a staff member. Your absence is heavy and painful, and on the other hand we feel even for the relatively short time that we were with you, because we have a great privilege and honor in knowing you. “Three years without you, time seems to have stopped, life is flowing and there is no cure. … You always played with a playful smile and a sense of humor, peace of mind and optimism, that would be good. I will not forget the nobility of your soul, your modesty and your shining eyes and your beautiful face – a great longing that never expired. … love of people – children, youth and adults alike – loved the human connection without inhibitions, spontaneity, the most natural in the world. You knew how to be a member with the emphasis on the meaning of this word that represents the power to give, care, love – and help without any change. The Yad Mordechai School in Bat Yam has established a commemorative corner with a memorial plaque on the wall, and the municipality of Bat Yam has established a soccer field in his honor, and Oren’s family works to commemorate his memory.
