Cassuto, Yaakov


Yaakov, son of Chaim and Rebecca Cassuto, was born on August 1, 1943 In Izmir, Turkey. His family immigrated to Israel in 1949. He completed his regular service and thereafter was called up for reserve duty from time to time. On the first day of the battles of the Six-Day War, on 26 Iyar 5727 (5.6.1967), Chaim fell in battle near the Castel Quarry when he was hit by a mortar shell. He left a wife and a son. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
