Cassuto, Sami Shmuel


Ben Becky and Yehuda, a brother to Idit and Eve. Born on 28 November 1977 in Bat Yam, where he grew up and was educated. Sami studied at the Givati ​​Elementary School and at the Yad High School in carpentry. For about a year he worked in a pastry shop, then in the grocery store. He enjoys this work, and his employers say he was a hard worker, efficient, serious and reliable. At the beginning of December 1995 Sami enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, where he was trained as a transport driver and was assigned to the Tel Hashomer camp. On April 25, 1996, Sami died of a serious illness. He was nineteen when he died. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by his parents, two sisters, and a friend – Odelia. After his death he was promoted to corporal, and the unit commander wrote: “Sami came to us at his request and was indeed assigned to us. You can say only good words about it and praise it. His shy smile, his modesty, his diligence, and his kindness were a model for all the soldiers in the unit. Sami always made sure to report to any task at any time, while helping his commanders and friends. “His family commemorated his memory in the synagogue for Turkish immigrants in Bat Yam, his hometown.
