The youngest son of Larissa and Vladimir. Born on 7 August 1986 in Dagestan, former Soviet Union in the city of Makhachkala, a brother to Nikolai and Vladimir, a red, energetic, happy child who smiled at life and smiled at him. Vladimir, his second brother, used to bring him back from the garden and play with him, and the three brothers formed one cohesive unit, and were the best friends. Larissa, the mother, says that their loyalty to each other was so absolute that when she expressed anger at one of the brothers, Leonid would hasten to defend him and make her wrong. As for her, she says, he treated Leonid with great respect, and even called her “Malka”. “He was not ashamed to tell me, ‘Mom, I love you very much,'” Larissa recalls sadly, and says that when he worked in a flower shop he used to bring her a bouquet every Friday. And Leonid’s love and desire to make everyone happy was one of his main characteristics: “Leonid gave himself to others and himself, he liked to surprise, buy presents for birthdays, and when he knew what I wanted he would buy me the gift before the event, to make me happy.” A strong and unique relationship existed between Leonid and his father. “Leonid’s heart was wide and open to his father,” Larissa says briefly. It was a kind of closeness of the kind that is difficult to express in words, and the common fate of the two attests to the hidden greatness of the revealed. Leonid, who was always very independent and aware of the value of the money and the economic reality that lived within it, worked for a living from the age of fourteen, and financed all his needs. At first he worked in a banquet hall, later worked for two years in a flower shop, and served as a restaurant waiter. He financed his driving lessons from his own pocket, and was the first of his friends to receive the desired license. As a token of appreciation and gratitude from his mother, Leonid was given a special gift – a car she bought him, and who took great pride in him. Leonid enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the Logistics Corps, where he completed a driver’s course with honors and served as an operational driver at Training Base 20, the training base for technological professions in the Ordnance Corps.
