Caspi, Isaac


Son of Lili and Michael, was born on 10.10.1962 in Nahariya. Isaac attended elementary school in his hometown and continued his studies in the “Amal” school in a theoretical track. His hobby was sports. He played soccer in the Hapoel team in Nahariya. Isaac was involved in the youth, until his mother died when he was 17 years old. The death of the mother had a severe effect on the boy. He retired from sports and social activity and tried to be close to his father, to encourage him and help him. In November 1980, he enlisted in the Golani Brigade and was sent to the course for outstanding soldiers, but when he heard of the IDF’s preparations for the war in the Galilee, he asked to return to his unit and fight with them. His company went out to the front, and Isaac was stationed as a liaison of the company commander. On June 10, 1982, his unit fought in the outskirts of Beirut and was hit by a Syrian sniper’s bullet in his hand, while Isaac felt his life in the palm of his hand, He was killed at the age of 19. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya, where he was succeeded by a father and brother. In a letter of condolence to his family, Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote: “Aizik gave his life for his homeland, and fell on the outskirts of Beirut, Lebanon, when a sniper hit him while trying to rescue a friend who was hurt. He performed his missions with honors and fell as a hero in an attempt to rescue a wounded soldier in a bloody battle – a human and moral act. ” The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Your son fell in one of the bitter and bitter battles in Operation Peace for the Galilee by shooting Syrian soldiers, while trying to rescue his fallen friend … Throughout the war he was at the head and head of the force. Under the fire at the risk of his life, he acquired it from his education in the home, his father, his brother, the environment and the school, and he carried out his actions with the feeling that this was the most important thing to do.
