Caron, Ehud
Son of Yehudit and Meir, was born on the 18th of Nissan, April 28, 1929 in Stuttgart, Germany, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1933, when the Nazis came to power in Germany. His parents settled in Ramot Hashavim, and Ehud studied at Kfar Malal and later in Yagur. He studied carpentry at the Tietz vocational high school. While the British conducted the search for weapons known as “Black Sabbath” (June 29, 1946) Ehud, and many others, were sent to the detention camp at Atlit. He returned to work at his parents’ farm in Ramot Hashavim, and instructed the members of the Mahanot Ha’olim branch there. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, Ehud immediately joined the Palmach, served in the Yiftach Brigade, and participated in the difficult battles in the Galilee. Ehud fell on the 5th of Tammuz, July 12, 1948, during the conquest of Lod, during Operation “Danny”. He was buried in Ben Shemen. On the 24th of Tevet, January 2, 1951, he was transfered to the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
