Carmel, David (David)

Carmel, David (David)

Son of Shmuel and Esther. He was born on 15.10.1930 in Haifa and studied at the Arlosoroff educational center in Hadera and at the vocational high school Titch Begur. Near the end of his studies, the War of Independence broke out. Like many of his contemporaries, David decided to postpone his studies. David was conscripted into the IDF in November 1950 and settled in Kibbutz Harel until 1952, when he moved to Tel Aviv, where he waited for an opportunity to continue his studies, and only when he was thirty years old, after he had married and raised a family. He studied at Tel Aviv University and was on the verge of receiving his bachelor’s degree, worked as an assistant in the political science department and was one of the best assistants in his department, he loved people and was able to recognize them well And even the evil, but he demanded more of himself than was required of others, and therefore he succeeded very well, both as well And he had a strong relationship with his acquaintances, and he had a great fondness for animals: his life’s dream was to specialize in one of the natural sciences, and although this did not happen, his love for animals did not diminish. Because of his seriousness and his demands on himself, he was profound and thorough in everything he dealt with, even in areas that did not interest him very much, and his interests and activities ranged from trips with students to political activities. The problem that always bothered him was how to satisfy everyone. He devoted much thought and care to his children. At the beginning of June 1969 he was called up for active reserve duty. On the 17th of Tammuz 5729 (1.7.1969), two days before the end of his service, he fell in the Jordan Valley. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and three children. The little boy was born after the fall of his father and was named after him.
