Carfunkel, Gerhart


Son of Annie and Alfred. Born in Berlin, Germany on August 22, 1917, he studied in an elementary school and then completed his studies in automotive mechanics. In 1933 he immigrated to Israel with his family and lived in Haifa, where he worked as a mechanic, During World War II, he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the Engineering Corps On 23 Kislev, 13.12.1941, during his military service, he died of an illness and was laid to rest in the old cemetery in Haifa. He is memorialized in the Book of Volunteerism, in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute and in the Book of the Year of the Journalists, 1946.
