Carachon, Zvi (Paul)


Born in 1927 in Hosh, Romania, he studied in an elementary school in his hometown and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement, and his favorite thing was to engage in sports, and later decided with his friends to immigrate to Eretz Israel On his way to Italy, where he studied literature – a profession he had been involved in for eight months – at the end of that period in 1945. At the end of his journey to Palestine he settled in Tel Aviv and despite an injury to his leg, Zvi joined the Palmach and was assigned to the Second Battalion of the Negev Brigade. From May 20 to 29, the Egyptian army attacked Yad Mordechai with the help of armor and airplanes in order to conquer the southern settlements on the way to Tel Aviv. (20.5.1948) Zvi fell in battle while repelling an Egyptian attack near Mordechai and was brought to eternal rest in the kibbutz cemetery.
