Capate, Shabtai


Son of Miriam and Shimon, was born in 1927 in the Old City of Jerusalem and attended elementary school. Then he studied the profession of blacksmiths and specialized in it. Was a diligent worker. A strong, brave fellow. From his youth he was a member of the Haganah. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he naturally joined the defenders of the besieged city and was wounded in the defense of Neve Ya’akov. He was transferred to Hadassah Hospital, underwent surgery and died of his wounds on 9 May 1948. He was buried in Sheikh Bader A. On the 10th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was transferred to the eternal rest of the house Military Cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
