Caleb, Avraham (“Berto”)
Son of Moshe and Rachel. He was born on 27.7.1927 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Immigrated to Israel in 1940. Worked in the garage as a mechanic. He was humble and modest in nature and inept, and could bear any injustice in silence. His path was through honesty and justice, and he went to fight the war of survival. He did not hurt anyone, nor did he expect anything from anyone. He had a good husband and a good father and all his concern for his family. He was also loyal and devoted to his friends and always saw him as a symbol of stability and candor. In July 1948, he was drafted into the IDF for the first time, at the height of the War of Independence, dedicated to the army, and he loved life there, sometimes he felt ill, but he did not want to use these arguments to exempt himself from service. On February 12, 1963, he fell and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, where he left a wife and two sons.
