Calderon, Yaakov


Yaakov, son of Goya and Nissim Calderon, was born in 1950 in Istanbul, Turkey. Yaakov was a Zionist and loved the State of Israel. In 1969 he immigrated to Israel and joined Kibbutz Shefayim until his enlistment in the Israel Defense Forces. He served in the Artillery Corps and participated in the Yom Kippur War. After completing his army service in 1976 he joined the Israel Police. During his service, he held a wide range of positions, including management, tour and movement, and his last role was to tour the Dan region. On 27 Tamuz, 3.8.1986, while on duty on a police motorcycle in Herzaliya, Yaakov was hit by a vehicle that did not obey a stop sign and was killed on the spot. He was buried in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery in Tel Aviv, leaving a wife and three children.
