Bynet, Lior David

Son of Aliza and Yeruham was born on March 6, 1962 in Ramat-Gan, where Lior began to study at the elementary school in Ramat-Hen, where he spent a few years with his parents in Latin America. After completing his studies in Brazil and Mexico, he acquired knowledge of English, Portuguese and Spanish, and when he returned to Israel, Lior completed his high school studies at the Blich School in Ramat Gan. In February 1981 Lior joined the IDF and served in the Artillery Corps. He completed basic training, and the opinion of his commanders at the end of the course was: “He is a disciplined soldier, tries hard and invests.” In December 1981, Lior was promoted to the rank of corporal, and later took an artillery course and a course in occupational analysis, where he was promoted to sergeant in September 1982. In mid-February 1983 he went to officers’ course. And when he did not return, IDF forces accompanied by a helicopter began to search for him. On the 25th of Adar 5743 (10.3.1983) his body was found in an ancient bell cave. Examination of his body suggested that when Lior fell into the pit in the dark he fired his weapon and two bullets hit the wall of the pit, and then hit him again. That’s why his friends did not hear or see the phosphorus bullets. Lior was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. He was 21 years old when he died. He left behind his parents and brother.
