Butbul, David
Son of Rosa and Yosef, was born on May 5, 1956, in Morocco. The family immigrated to Israel in October 1957 and settled in Haifa. He began his studies at the Nahliel Elementary School in Haifa and continues at the high school yeshiva in Kiryat Shmuel in Haifa Bay. In February 1974, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Military Police, where he underwent a series of professional courses, and in October 1974 he was promoted to Corporal. After he was released from the army, he joined the regular army. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant, took a portability course and served as a salesman in a unit that was parked in Sinai. In February 1978, he completed a course in maintenance maintenance, and after that he completed a course against maintenance, and at the same time preparations for the evacuation of the IDF forces from Sinai began, and as a quartermaster David was very busy with these preparations. On the 24th of Elul 5739 (August 24, 1979), David drove in an army jeep on the way from the Bir Hamra junction in the direction of Rafidim, and on the way the jeep overturned, the driver was wounded, and David, who was next to him, was killed. David was promoted to the rank of Major General. He was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery. Survived by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
