Busmi, Yehezkel
Son of-Flora and Yitzhak-Rahamim, was born on 19 April 1952 in Jerusalem. As a child, Yehezkel’s family moved to Pardes Katz near Petah Tikva, where he studied and completed his elementary studies. His family had many children, and in order to make it easier for her to work, Yechezkel went to work at odd jobs at an early age. A year and a half before he joined the IDF, he was seriously injured in an accident and for many months was hospitalized. He wanted to serve in a Nahal unit, but due to his poor health he was transferred to the Medical Corps, where Yehezkel took a driver’s course and was promoted to Corporal. During his military service, he married a wife. Due to his health and family, Yehezkel was discharged from regular service and transferred to reserve duty in the Medical Corps. On March 16, 1980, he was drafted into reserve duty. During his service, on March 18, 1980, he left his base for a nearby construction site. Cora, who fell from the building, hit his head and was critically wounded. The next day, on March 19, 1980, Yehezkel died of his wounds and was buried at the military cemetery in Petach Tikvah, leaving his wife, three daughters, five brothers and four sisters. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Yehezkel was a good soldier, desirable and acceptable to his comrades and commanders.”
