Maxim always aspired to achievements. He asked for other fields, to open up new horizons, and to teach him something new, which they did not yet know. At the same time, with the love of society and shared entertainment, he disliked disturbances, loved peace and nature, loneliness. He would often have a soul-searching with himself. He would go out into nature, listening to crickets, birds and all the sounds of nature, and he would think to himself about what was going on around him and about his place in these events. He loved the sound of the waves, the secrets of nature, but at the same time he knew how to return to us, to his friends. He treated his parents, teachers and friends with respect, and always tried not to anger anyone and not to be angry at a person. “Who could have guessed that this tender-hearted boy knew, when the time came, to be a tough, well-trained soldier? He was drafted to the IDF in early 1972. When he was religious, he was offered a place in the religious establishment in the army, But he asked for challenge and action, and volunteered for the Golani Brigade. He went through basic training and training with relative ease, did not complain and received every difficulty in love. His leadership capacity was soon discovered. Was always chosen to be one of the testers of the complicated exercises. In the meantime, the Yom Kippur War broke out, Maxim was called from the synagogue of the unit to the northern front, and on the sixth day of the battles he was hit by shrapnel and taken to a hospital in the rear. From the hospital and returned to his comrades in the combat unit, the conditions on the ground were difficult, and Maxim did his best to keep kosher and to keep the Sabbath, but his strength was not broken: his worst experience was when he took part in the occupation of the Hermon outpost from the Syrians. Reported to his friends: “Yes, I was in a force that liberated the Hermon outpost. I guess I was not hurt. Maybe a little mistake … a lot of people were killed and wounded, bombs exploded all around, and wounded people cried out … a battle of over seven hours in a dark night, at the end of which the good guys won … There were many heroic acts, A few weeks later, when he took part in training with live ammunition, an unfortunate bullet struck his head and struck him on the eighth of Iyar 5734 (April 30, 1974). Was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in Ashkelon. Survived by his parents, nine brothers and two sisters. After his death he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and his commander wrote to the bereaved family: “Maxim served in the battalion for a long time and fought the Yom Kippur War in its ranks. Was a good and talented commander and an excellent fighter, who proved himself in both the war and the training and the operational employment that followed. ” Words in his memory were published in the book “In the Furnace of Fire”, published on behalf ofRogozin High School, as well as the album “Not the Words Speak of Death,” which commemorates the fallen soldiers of the First Bounty Regiment of the Golani Brigade.
