Bushri, Eliyahu


Son of Esther and Zion was born on December 1, 1926, in Jerusalem. Eliahu participated in the defense of the Old City of Jerusalem, in attacks on Arab transportation in the vicinity of Ramallah and in various punitive actions of the Haganah In February 1948, he joined the Palmach in the role of commander and was sent to Beit Ha’arava, in the northern Dead Sea, and upon the evacuation of the spot he moved to Sodom and fell on the 27th of Iyar. (June 5, 1948) in an attack on the nearby village of Safia, which was the source of Sodom’s water, Eli, as his friends called him, was buried in a sepia on the 11th of Adar (February 28, 1950), and was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
