Busheri, Shalom


Shalom Busheri, the youngest son of Simcha and Moshe, was born on the 22nd of Nissan 5727 (24.4.1927) in the city of Demar, Yemen. At the age of two he was orphaned from his mother. His father abandoned his work and devoted himself to raising his son and taking care of their home. In September 1934 Shalom made aliyah with his family to Israel. The family settled in Rechovot. On March 14, 1948, Shalom was drafted into the Golani Brigade and participated in battles in the Galilee and in the valley. He was indomitable in battle, beloved by his friends and his commanders for his devotion to the ideals of ​​the defense of our homeland. He had a poetic soul. He wrote poems and when he grew to manhood he expressed his yearning for his mother whom he did not know. On 3 Tamuz, July 10, 1948, during an assault on the city by the enemy in the Arab Sejera, Shalom was hit by a bullet in the head, fell in the heroic battle and was buried in Kfar Tabor. On the 7th of Tammuz 5710 (22.6.1950) he waslaid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
