Burstein, Yosef
Son of Roza and Yitzhak Shlomo. He was born in 1919 in Warsaw, Poland. In his youth he was orphaned and sent to an orphanage until 1931 and in the same year his brother and sister brought him to Eretz Israel. He worked in Israel for several years and in August 1939 he joined the police as a guard. In his service he did his work well and participated in many activities against Arab gangs and was known among his friends as a kind man, a faithful friend and a devoted Jew with a heart and soul for his people and his homeland. On the 13th of Tishrei (September 26, 1939) he was on duty with a British policeman. The policeman was cleaning his weapon, and as a result, a bullet was fired from his rifle, hitting Yosef’s head and killing him. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Netanya. He left two brothers and a sister.
