Bukay, Jacob

The eldest son – Mordechai and Adele. He was born on Wednesday, 26 October 1930, in Damascus, the capital of Syria, and graduated from the Alliance school in his city and two high school classes. He immigrated to Israel by land in 1944. He became a member of the youth training program of the Syrian immigrants, and soon became accustomed to living conditions in the economy and loved the land, and in 1946 joined the Gadna and joined Hanoar Haoved, He participated in various activities in the Palmach and was drafted into the IDF in February 1948. He was very friendly and cheerful, responsible and brave and full of spirit of volunteerism and sacrifice. On the 8th of Av 5709 (August 8, 1949) he fell in the enemy territory while carrying out his duties, and a monument in his memory was erected in the missing section of the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
