Bromberg, Moshe

Son of Leah and David, was born on 12.4.1918 in the city of Chodorov, Galicia, when he was five years old and his five-year-old son was saved by the mother. He joined the Hanoar Haoved movement in October 1935 and studied carpentry, but found no satisfaction in this work, so he went on to train the “Socialist Bacharut” in Magdiel and from there to Kibbutz Beit Oren. At the outbreak of the 1936 riots, he joined the Nutras, served in Daughter of Shlomo, Givat Ada and Kfar Yavetz and was accompanied by convoys on the roads He was drafted into the British Air Force, where he served for six years – in Israel, Egypt, and Italy – during which time Moshe was longing for the land because his life was difficult for the British. From the Land of Israel, Moshe slapped the soldier on the cheek, was sentenced to ten days in prison, and was proudly sentenced to death, and when he returned to a sick country, seven months of wandering, he lay on his deathbed for another half year. The War of Independence broke out and two days after the declaration of the state, on May 17, he joined the 7th Brigade, which was under construction. In his letter before leaving for battle, he expressed his belief in victory and stressed that anyone capable of the front must take the weapon by hand. He left with his unit for the first attack on the legion in Latrun, as part of Operation son of-Nun A, and in the battle that took place on the 24th of Iyar 5708 (24.5.1948), traces of it disappeared. On the 11th of Adar 5702 (February 28, 1950) the bones of the fallen were brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
