Briya, Jacob


Was born on January 16, 1929. His parents (from Romania) settled in Moshav Hadar in the southern Sharon, and in 1933 he moved with them to Moshav Ein Vered, where he studied eight elementary and two continuing classes in Beit- The book of the Tel Mond bloc was active in the Gadna and immediately after completing the school was sent to a first course and then passed four courses in various subjects. Because of his father’s illness, his help was very necessary for his parents’ farm, but the Hagana commanders determined that he was the most talented among the locals and his service was essential for the protection of the moshav. Therefore he was also unable to go to the Palmach, as he wished, and he had to make do with the service of gentiles and guidance in Gadna. He had excelled in his devotion to the roles and liked his loyalty to his friends. He recently completed a course for commanders and organized the Palam in his village and commanded him. From the beginning of the War of Independence he devoted himself only to the military role in the Alexandroni Brigade. He traveled with his men many times for patrols and to safeguard the security of the workers in the fields. On the 4th of Iyar 5708 (13.5.1948) he went with the Palmach to battle for the village of Tira in the Sharon and fell there. Jacob was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Tel Mond.
