Brinman, Yechiel (Chilik)
He was born in Lithuania in 1899. He was an active member of the Poalei Zion party in Russia and the Jewish Defense during the civil war in Russia. He immigrated to Eretz Israel at the beginning of the Third Aliyah, joined the Joseph Trumpeldor Labor Battalion and in 1923 entered Kibbutz Kfar Giladi in the Upper Galilee, where he served as a weapons storekeeper. “Yechiel did not know,” as one of his friends put it, “despair and doubt. He believed in a simple and stable belief in the victory of the cause.” He was also known for his bravery. We also called him “Yechiel El-Fahad”, as another member attests, and in 1937 he was killed in Heftziba while dealing with bombs.
