Brigg, Jacob
Son of George and Samira. He was born on January 18, 1952 in Jerusalem. He studied at the “Branch of Life” elementary school and completed his studies at Beit Hinuk High School in Jerusalem. During the day he worked as a television technician, a profession he had learned while working. He was a photography enthusiast and bought sophisticated cameras and equipment for development and enlargement. He liked to play guitar, but most of all he loved children and photographed them in all kinds of situations. Yaakov joined the IDF in late February 1972 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he served as a combat soldier and fulfilled his duties with talent and loyalty. He was full of energy and a desire to do more and more. He always asked his commanders to impose on him additional duties and tasks to satisfy his eagerness for action. On the day of Kislev 5732 (1 December 1972) Jacob fell in the line of duty and was put to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Yaakov was a model soldier and performed his duties with great devotion and efficiency – not only as a soldier who excelled in your son, but also as a beloved friend. His family donated various religious objects to his name and to the synagogue where the family used to pray.
