Brenner, Menachem (Milik)

Son of Pinchas and Odell. He was born on February 15, 1954, in Czernowitz, in the Soviet Union. Menachem was the only child of his parents. He completed his elementary and secondary studies in the Soviet Union and wanted to continue studying, even though his greatest aspiration was to immigrate to Israel. He began studying physics engineering in Leningrad, but stopped studying because of his desire to immigrate to Israel. In 1974 he arrived in Israel with his parents, and the family settled in Rehovot. Despite the difficulties of language and adaptation, he was accepted to the Technion and began his studies in physics again. Menahem was a friendly and cheerful fellow with a friendly attitude toward all his friends and loved to help others. In April 1975, he was drafted into the IDF as part of the Academic Reserve, and was sent to an officer’s course on 27 December 1978. He was killed in a training accident on December 26, 1978. He was left behind by his parents, Condolences to the bereaved parents His commandant wrote: “Menahem was full of energy, vitality and dedication, stuck to his missions, and he was just starting out as a cadet in an officer’s course.”
