Breier, Azriel-Yehuda

Born on August 16, 1932 in Vienna, capital of Austria, where he studied in the “cheder” and immigrated with his family to Israel in 1939 before the outbreak of the Second World War. In Israel, Azriel lived with his extended family in the homes of Ungerin and was a student at the Shomrei Hahomot Yeshiva. When he was 15, he joined the ranks of Lehi, and on February 22, 1948, British soldiers and policemen arrived at son of-Yehuda Street in central Jerusalem, detonated explosive charges and shot indiscriminately at passersby. As a reward for these atrocities, the Irgun attacked British soldiers in the center of the city. Azriel, who was standing at the scene as a Lehi observer, was hit by a bullet and fell, and was buried on the Mount of Olives
