Braverman, Yosef (Yoske)

Son of Sara and Yitzchok, born in Kfar Saba on December 4, 1929, he grew up in Tel Aviv. Yosef studied mathematics and was very successful in examinations in this field. He became a member of the Palmach and took part in the trekking and the hard training, while singing and joking. Yosef participated in the activities of the struggle (raising illegal immigrants to the coast) in defense of points in the north, fighting and sabotage. In the winter of 1948 in Bled a-Sheikh, in the village of Kana, and accompanied convoys to Jerusalem and Haliham, etc. He was supposed to go with his comrades to the settlement in Mishmar Hayam, but they were summoned to the aid of Mishmar Ha’emek, which was attacked by the forces of the “Rescue Army” of Kaukji. Yosef fell on the 4th of Nissan, April 13, 1948 and was buried in Mishmar Ha’emek. On the 1st of Elul 5710 (14.8.1950) he was transferred to the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
