Brandes, Moshe
Son of Zissel and Shalom. Born in 1892 in Kamenets-Podolsk, Russia, to a family of Hasidim, wealthy and respected. In 1921 he fulfilled his wish to immigrate to Israel, and when he arrived in Israel he settled in Jerusalem and went to work in the construction industry. On 18 Av, 24.8.1929, early in the morning, as he left one of the houses where he stood guard all night, a bullet hit his stomach. He was rushed to Hadassah Hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts to save his life, he lost his soul. He was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives. He left two brothers and two sisters.
