Brand, Mordechai (Max)

Son of-Arena and Walter was born on the 6th of Av, July 31, 1920, in the city of Bishopsdorf, West Prussia, Germany, immigrated to Israel in 1945, Mordechai transferred the workshop to Kibbutz Naot Mordechai. After a brief period of life in the kibbutz, he moved with his family to Holon and joined the Haganah even before the outbreak of the War of Independence. When the gang attack from Tel Arish began on Holon, he spent nights on guard after returning from work. On 12 Nissan, April 21, 1948, he fell in battle when he was hit by a sniper bullet. Mordechai was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. Survived by a wife, Shulamit, and a son
